Madrid, besides being a beautiful city is characterized by its wide range of places to visit and enjoy.
The Retiro Park, Plaza Mayor, the Prado Museum, the Royal Palace and Puerta del Sol are some of the most emblematic places to enjoy your visit.
The city of Madrid is located in central Spain, about 650 meters above the sea level. To the north, the city is protected by the Sierra de Guadarrama, which turns Madrid into one of the capitals of the world with the highest number of sunny days, about 200 days a year. Madrid combines large avenues with small and narrow historic streets and beautiful parks. It is one of the best cities to walk around.

Airport: Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas. Tel: (+34) 902 404 704. Click here to access the web. The Madrid subway costs about 5 euros. The cost of a taxi from the airport to the center of Madrid is fixed (30 euros). Both must be paid in euros.
Languages: The official language is Spanish, but English, German, and French are spoken in tourism related areas.
Currency: The Spanish currency is the Euro (€). The exchange rate is approximately 1 USD = 0.721 Euro. Foreign currency can be exchanged at banks or exchange houses. Currency exchange offices are usually open longer than the banks, but they offer different rates and charge fees.
Credit cards: credit cards Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, Cirrus and Amex accepted. They can be used in hotels, restaurants and shops. They are also valid at most automated teller machines (ATM).
Electricity: Spain uses voltage 220-250 V. Use plugs with two round rods.

The underground ticket from the airport to the city of Madrid is 5 euros (one way trip). Therefore you may be interested in buying this offer before travelling to Madrid. Once in the airport you can redeem your receipt for the tickets. Any normal one trip ticket of the underground in Madrid is 1.85 euros.
