RESUMEN
El objetivo de este artículo es analizar la posibilidad de incorporar los objetos a nuestra
descripción de lo social. Más concretamente, el artículo se pregunta acerca de la posibilidad
de pensar lo social a través de los objetos. Siguiendo la reflexión de diversos autores
contemporáneos (Latour, 1999, 2005; Gell, 1998; Miller, 2005; Simondon 1989a y 1989b),
discutiré la posibilidad de describir a los objetos agentes constitutivos de lo social. El artículo
muestra que la incorporación de los objetos al pensamiento sociológico no sólo abre la
posibilidad de nuevas avenidas para la investigación empírica de lo social sino que además
nos permite iniciar una reflexión acerca del pensamiento sociológico en tanto que
pensamiento de lo social.
ABSTRACT
The objective of this article is to analyse the possibility of incorporating objects into our
description of the social. More concretely, the article investigates the possibility of thinking the
social through objects. Following the discussion of different contemporary authors (Latour,
1999, 2005; Gell, 1998; Miller, 2005; Simondon 1989a and 1989b), I discuss the possibility of
describing objects as constitutive agents of the social. The article shows that the incorporation
of objects to sociological thought not only opens new possibilities for the empirical
investigation of the social, but also enables us to reflect upon the definition sociological
thought as the thought about the social.
